Hey chaps,

Following on from this thread, I'm looking for a 22-24" monitor under £200 for design/3d modeling work.

I understand I'm unlikely to be able to find anything bar TN panels, but would be great if anyone has any recommendations on current OcUK stock.

Cheers!

I know you've probably ruled it out due to budget but if you're willing to look more long-term I would really consider going 30". The advantages over 24" are huge, literally. For 3d work and photography/design (which I do day-to-day) I couldn't go back to working on 24" now having used 30" for 6 years. It's expensive but it's probably the best long-term investment you'll make because these things don't need replacing every year or 2. I've had the same model of screen for years now, so it's kind of paid for itself in a way.

Just something to think about :) Cheers,

If you aren't going to have to work with rapidly moving objects I would recommend the ViewSonic VP2365wb (you've done some good research there Trifid). It offers the same excellent LG E-IPS panel that you find in the Dell U2311H but a slightly earlier iteration without the same response time compensation. For your purposes it's probably the best deal for design and 3D modelling work, but again it depends if you need the detail to be maintained during rapid rotation or movement of the models.

I've done a lot of research from your site, I found it very useful and compliments TFTCentral nicely. Thanks.

Have you used the monitor? How bad is it in movies and light gaming (mainly racing and flight sims). It didn't look too bad in that need more socks car photos.

Unfortunately I haven't used it myself for gaming so I wouldn't like to say. The TFT Central review gives a good indication that 'you may find it adequate for light gaming' and that it isn't as bad as other 'non RTC enabled' IPS panels. The input lag is reasonably low so you could probably get away with it but it would depend on how sensitive you are. I wouldn't worry about it too much myself.

+1 for the ViewSonic VP2365wb I purchased one for a friend who does plenty of photoshop and he is pleased with the sharp stable colour.

Im using my Samsung B2430H for Photoshop and 3Dmax and it seems great. I cant really notice a big difference between it and the couple IPS pannels we have at University.

I think real-estate is very important for visual design work, and myself would never go back to "22".
