Monitor for gaming

Hi can anyone recommend a decent gaming monitor for me please? I have a HD7950 3gb gpu and i5 4670k @ 3.4GHz. I mainly play fps and some simulators.
Im not sure if this will run 1440p, so was thinking

1080p.
22"-24"
£250. Could push to £300 if its worth it.
Speakers not essential.
