I just purchased a new mac mini and I'm looking for a 27 inch monitor to go with it. I got a mac mini instead of imac to save money and be able to get a higher spec as well as a firewire port, and with the money I've saved with uni discount I can afford around £200-£300 for a monitor.

I will be using the mac for uni work which is mainly production and recording on Logic and bit of word processing then usual internet browsing etc, no image or video editing so colours arent overly important and 1080p is enough even at 27 inches. I am also looking to use it for my xbox as well and have come across a samsung monitor tv combo (link) which looks good as I currently have a 19 inch samsung monitor tv combo that served me well but is too small even for a computer these days let alone xbox and tv.

Ive tried looking at reviews but not really found any definitive answers for the best monitors these days and im out of the loop as ive been on a macbook for the last few years so any suggestions would be appreciated. ideally looking for tv combo cause im at uni and it would make more sense to buy a combo cause i dont play xbox or watch tv enough to buy a hdtv as well.

cheers.
