Monitor for photo editing

Honestly, for photo editing I would suggest to you a 2560x1440 27 inch monitor.

Photo/video editing is main reason i struggle to go back to 1080p. The extra desktop real estate and higher pixel density really comes into its own in those uses. I can honestly take it or leave it for gaming.

These two are the cheapest:

Though I would probably stretch a little further and get on of these:

First looks nicer, and has more input options.

Second has better colours, but only dual link dvi connector.

Edit:
Actually, the second of the cheapest looks decent too, but I personally like height adjustable stands...

I was already eyeing up the Iiyama Prolite XB2779QS-S 27

And have just bought it :)
I am keen to know how you get on with the Iiyama.

I ordered one before Christmas but had to swap it due to terrible backlight bleed. The second one was almost as bad so I gave up on Iiyama, got a refund and bought the Asus PB278Q instead. I was gutted at the time because the images looked fantastic on the Iiyama until I displayed something with a dark background.

It could have been a bad batch so hopefully they've all gone now and you will get a good one :)

I have the Asus PA249Q 24" monitor, found it very good, very little back light bleed.
It has a 10 bit panel, & so many features, like a ruler along inside edge of bottom & size bezel, took me a week to find my way around the monitor.

well i have just hooked up the iiyama and what can i say it's big :)
v bright :)

Makes my Nikon D800E camera files in lightroom bring out the flaws in it's detail.

Overall v happy but will spend the weekend tweaking it.

Also the Advanced Contrast Ratio is a a killer feature but only downside is that you cant lower the brightness in that mode.

Thats unfortunate.

But yeah, the 27 inch and 2560x1440 is great for photo editing. Much better than 1080p.

Starting to love 1080p for gaming again, but only cause of the lower gpu requirements.

Is the backlight not simply on max settings or anything? Just turning down not help?

Well in all honesty its only when you boot up the pc and only a little noticeable in films.

I have lowered brightness to 25 and bumped up the contrast to 60
