Hi guys,

i'm looking at upgrading my PC monitor to something like a 27" 1080p 144hz monitor or possibly a 34" ultrawide 1440p/60HZ.

My concern is with an ultra wide you are looking at 1440p (only 60hz) in my price range (£250-£330 ish) but I am using a GTX970 so it may struggle?

1. Samsung LS34J550 Quad HD 34" 1440p 60HZ

2. MSI Optix MAG271C 1080P 27" 144HZ

I'm thinking the 27" would be better even though ultra wide would be nice for field of view in racing simulator games. I have also heard 1080p on an ultra wide monitor would not be that sharp given its 34" as well if I was to find a 1080p 34" ultra wide.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Don't worry about 144 Hz. 144 Hz is nice but 100 Hz is a noticeable improvement over 60 Hz. And really, I'm not sure your CPU could drive 144 fps anyway. Widescreen really is the way to go for driving games.

And take a look at the Iiyama 75 Hz 3440x1440 monitor which is only just outside your budget. Only 75 Hz but that's better than 60 Hz.

I am waiting for some items to sell so I can upgrade my motherboard, RAM and processor to the Ryzen 5 3600 as well :)
