So looking to build a new PC, primary use is going to be work unfortunately, which is going to involve not much more than staring at websites effectively. However I do want to use it to game on as well. I believe I'm fairly settled on wanting 27"+ and 1440p+ to give myself plenty of real estate as such. I'm far from a serious PC gamer at the moment, with a low end 5 year old laptop, so I'm not going to be massively picky over hz, fps and super ultra settings. I'll just be happy to run new releases!

Over in the New to PC gaming board, Tamzzy suggested that the AOC Q3279VWFD8, due to be released at the end of this month, could be a smart pick up? 31.5" 1440p 75hz freesync IPS, all for about 200-220gbp that I can see at the moment.

I realise that a monitor that hasn't been released here yet is a bit of a risk, but the older model without the IPS panel seemed to get some decent reviews?

Thoughts? Recommendations on other monitors? My total build budget is aiming to be around 1200-1300gbp. I'm happy enough to change what I've currently got setup if there's a must have monitor.

So just got it delivered, and I think I got a special price since I no longer see it being advertised by the company I got it from, maybe shipped over from Europe after I complained about no delivery date coming, only issue is it came with a european plug. Easily overcome though, especially since I've just got £10 credit from the store to buy a replacement cable :D.

For someone coming from realtively tiny screens (22 inch, 15.5inch etc), it's a monster...

Question though, got a few dead pixels/sub pixels. The question is, how do I know if it's a dead pixel, or a dead sub pixel? I'm trying the multi colour static thing to see if that can clear them up. I'm not that bothered, they're all quite close to the edges of the screen, and not dark/big enough to be immediately noticeable, but I do want to know my rights.

No, matte finish (semi I think is the official term), I don't have reflection issues that I've noticed in the last couple of days.
