Hi guys. Been having an issue while gaming that my monitor will black screen and then change refresh rates by itself from 240 to 120. I had thought it maybe be a gpu issue but unsure. I'm using a alienware qdoled dw and samung g9 oled. I'm on windows 11 and x570 platform with 5950x and a strix 3090. Cheers

i would also thing its a cable.. i swapped my cable to a long 5m cable.. and it works mostly fine but very rarely it goes to black screen and comes back.
Mine is 1440p 165hz. When I lower refresh rate to 120hz problem goes mostly away. That is a cable bandwith issue. I do not have that problem with a short 1.8m cable.

I tried a different cable and I think it just maybe be a faulty monitor. When it's complete disconnected. I have zero issues with my other monitor. But when it's connected I still get black screens. The only other issue it could be is that my hdmi 2.1 ports which I have 2 of on gpu have both gone bad. It is a samsung monitor with the issue and with all quality control issues with that brand it would be hardly surprising

My first guess would be cable. That discarded, the monitor. Much more common to be an issue with the monitor than the GPU to be honest.
Are you setting the same refresh rate for Nvidia control panel, Windows (under advanced monitor options or something like that) and in the monitor menu (some monitors need to be set at overclocked mode to achieve some refresh rate, not sure your does). Also on Nvidia panel, if using GSync, select window and full screen, because selecting only full screen, sometimes issues play up.

Just using the same settings I always do. Been fine for months. Then the last couple of weeks it started happening. Just been using the alienware oled for the last couple of days and it's been fine both using hdmi and displaylort and it's been fine so it's definitely the samsung g9.
