Hello everyone,
Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong section but I'm looking to get some advice as this situation is driving me mad.
A while back, a few months after buying a new fairly cheap LG 19" monitor, whilst playing certain games my monitor would suddenly enter power saving mode and my graphics card fan would go loud. There was no way to get around this other than to reboot. It started getting worse and happening more frequently, but only during certain games.
I Tried swapping my gfx card with my brothers, which reduced the frequency and eventually stopped it altogther, however, I was forced to change back to my own card again recently. Everything has been fine for months, then all of a sudden it has begun happening again whilst playing Aion Online. At first I presumed it may have been due to there being too much on the screen at once, but it happens when I am in uncrowded areas too.
I have read lots of posts about this issue and tried most solutions but it seems to keep on happening. The odd thing is that my brother uses the same 19" monitor as me and he recently got a new system, and it happened with him during a few games (Mass Effect 2, Aion).
The monitor seems to be the common factor in all of this, however last night I tried using an older 19" non-widescreen Phillips monitor and the power saving mode happened again after a few hours. Its extremely difficult to work out whats causing this, as I have tried changing a few things such as gfx cards, monitors and power supplys, not to mention that it stopped happeneing for about 4-5 months randomly.
Sorry for the wall of text but if anyone has any suggestions as to what could be causing this it would be greatl appreciated.
Thanks
