Monitor going to sleep when I plug in HDMI?

As the title says.

I’ve had to send my monitor away for repair or a new one if it can’t be fixed, so I’ve had to plug in an old hp pavilion 23xi to keep me going until it’s sorted.

It’s been working fine for the last couple days until earlier. I realised the mic for my headset was making a super loud crackling sound whenever I spoke, and It was doing it with 2 different headsets so I guessed it was the actual pc that was the problem.

All I’ve done to the pc itself is turn it off and unplug everything, then give the HD audio cable a look over.

Now anytime I turn the pc on it will turn the monitor on but straight away go back to sleep? When I unplug the HDMI from the back of the pc the monitor will turn back on?

Any help appreciated because the monitor is about half an hour away to getting a new fist sized hole feature.

mine does the same with display port cables
i have to use the buttons to select display port input

Yeah. Tried selecting HDMI and it just puts it into sleep mode. If I select something else (DVI or VGA) it says check video card. So it’s only selecting HDMI that puts it to sleep.

In the settings for my monitor (I use DP) there is a setting for HDMI Deep Sleep, not sure if that is any help.

sounds stupid but it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of settings. Can adjust brightness etc etc but apart from that, nothing I can find. Piece of **** monitor.

Just randomly turned on now . To save me making another thread, anybody have any idea why my mic is super crackly whenever I talk into it? As said before, happening with 2 different headsets so it’s not that.
