Monitor has no signal after installing new GPU

So yeah, my r9 290 DD edition arrived today, I plugged it in, turned on the PC, and my monitor gets no signal.. Anyone know a solution? My specs are:
AMD FX-6300
GeIl Black Dragon 8GB 4x2 sticks
R9 290 DD edition
Mobo: gigabyte 970A-DS3P
Help?!

This will sound almost insulting, but check you have plugged your monitor into your graphics card, and not your on-board - you would be surprised how many people do that

Also just double check all your video cables, AND Power connections to your Graphics card (the 8pin and 6 pin)

if that fails, unplug it and plug in your old one if u have it? and see if that works fine, may be faulty card
