Hi

I'm looking for some help with a display solution, wondering if there's anyone here who can point me in the right direction or better.

For work reasons I'm looking to run two monitors off my laptop and have one extended monitor space across 3 screens (the laptop and 2 attached monitors). At the moment I have attached to my laptop a:

Dell Ultrasharp U2913WM 29" Super-Widescreen LED Monitor

Bought from Overclockers actually a couple years ago. The laptop screen and Dell monitor act as one extended screen and all is good.

So, can this be done?

Dell Customer Service tells me the monitors cannot be "daisy-chained". Fair enough, so maybe another solution is available? The instruction manual for the Dell monitor hints at the possibility when describing its various ports:

"DisplayPort output for MST (Multi-Stream Transport) capable monitor. DP 1.1 monitor can only be connected as the last monitor in the MST chain"

I don't understand what this means though I am trying my best to get educated and there seems to be a lot mentioned about DisplayPorts when you Google multiple monitor setups.

Unfortunately my laptop doesn't have any DisplayPorts. It does however have an HDMI port, that's what the Dell monitor is connected to. My laptop's graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce 610M.

I'm hoping the solution is a simple one. Even if I need to spend a little more on some extra hardware like a hub or adapter etc. I'll need to do something though just hopefully not a new laptop/desktop, but if it comes to it...

Finally, I was wondering if an HDMI connection is the recommended way to hook the monitor up to the laptop in the first place, as I have at the moment? The current setup works very well and I wouldn't want to have any reduction in quality.

Thanks so much in advance for any and all guidance.

All the Best,
James
