Hi,

Im new to the monitor side of pc's so dont know anything about them.
basically I'm looking for an HD monitor 23"-28" thats really good for gaming. I want to spend around £250 for this.

Thanks :)

looking to order one asap really. I saw one earlier that looked good to me. And i forgot to add I'm not looking for 3D. It was called the Asus VE278Q. Looked perfect for me and a good price so what do you reckon? Good monitor?

Sorry you misunderstood what i mean by I know nothing about monitors. I have no idea what that is. Basically that monitor I suggested, is that good for gaming and good for my money?

Well, that seems to be a TN panel, so wouldn't buy it personally. But that's quite an individual matter, YMMV.

The thing you should test before you buy:
- look at it from a normal viewing distance, 40-60 cm (~2 ft) (or whatever the distance you'll be watching it from is)
- preferably get a uniform background color, and try different ones
- without moving your head, if the edges and corners don't change color too radically (usually the case with TN panels), then there's probably nothing to worry about
- here's a good website to try it with, alternatively: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/viewing_angle.php
- now don't be alarmed, there most certainly will be some color change. But the objective is to determine whether it's too disturbing, or within your own limits.
- If you can't connect to internet with the computer the monitor is attached to, ask to try out a movie or two. Preferably one with both dark and light scenes.
- Or better yet, ask if there are any games (real games, not solitaire) on the computer you could try out. If no games, but internet connection is available, try watching youtube videos of your game of choice in full screen (e.g. "medal of honor gameplay")

I will be buying online rather than in a store.

got the monitor today :) very happy with it, extremely good quality and a lovely looking screen.

One flaw though, I've been trying to get WoW working with 3D using the SyncMaster 3D Game Launcher and glasses. Does anyone know how to get it working because everything I do, it somehow messes up. What setting should I have it on the monitor and the game etc I have no idea.
