If I buy a monitor that enable you to swivel 90 degrees into portrait mode. I am led to believe that I could browse and se more information on the screen. I have also read that to do so I'd need dedicated software eg. PivotPro. Do you guys know if that is the case or does the accompanied app/driver software cover it. Thanks

No software needed. Windows by default can rotate your display. It will work fine, sounds great at the outset but you'll quickly tire from it and go back to landscape.

It's inbuilt into Windows.

Right click when in desktop > screen resolution > orientation: portrait

This is Win 7 but I think 10 is the same/very similar. Either way, no additional software needed.

I find it very useful for documents, but only in combination with at least one other landscape screen.

It's good for browsing, especially long scrollable pages or writing documents. For a dual screen setup it's especially good to have one screen horizontal for games and the other vertical for web browsing.
