Hi Guys im having some trouble with my custom spec PC.. just wondered if anyone would have any ideas about it?

Below is my spec just incase anyone needs it. If ive missed anything please dont hesitate to ask..

Intel Core i5 3570K Processor
4 x 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz Memory
Gaming Tower Case
PowerStation Production 500W PSU
Intel Z77 Express Chipset
Radeon HD 6950 OC - 2 GB GDDR5 - PCI-Express 2.1

Now the problem im having is i was given a old PC screen from work they were throwing away this screen has to be 4 - 5 years old at least.. and im running it up to my pc on a VGA to DVI adapter and im finding recently (as i was using my TV screen with HDMI before) that my pc screen just goes black and the pc is still running, but if i turn the monitor on and off again the picture comes back only to just go black again within seconds. I dont mind buying a HDMI screen as my current TV screen works fine and does have this problem but i dont wanna shall out if its actually my PC with the problem.. ive looked around online and cant see to much so thought id pop it on here and see if anyone had any suggestions?

Thanks
Jordan

(PS - I did put this in monitor too but that seemed like new monitors nothing to do with issues)

its the monitor not syncing properly. Try changing the resolution/frequency on CCC to a lower one and see if you have the same problem. Make sure its set the frequency to 60hz in CCC and try something like 1024 x 768. Can you boot into safe mode okay for instance or hit F8 just before windows loads and select VGA mode.

Could be the lead/adaptor too its not your PC.
