I have just upgraded from a Sapphire Nitro vega64 to a Nitro RX6800. After installing the card i though all was good but was getting some stuttering in game. I have just discovered that the monitor had reset its self to standard freesync. The monitor in question being a benQ 3203, 1440p, 144htz with Freesync2 . Now i have set the monitor to freesync 2 it will not go above 120htz with only 6 bit colour depth and windows will not enable HDR. I know its only hdr 400 and i have it switched of normally but it should at least enable it for me . I had no issues with my Vega 64 and am at a loss . Oh and i am using the displayport . any advice? as i am at a loss!!

EDIT: All i can think of is the display port cable but if it worked fine on the vega 64 surely it shoul be fine with the RX 6800? Also... If i back the refresh rate of to 100htz i get 8 bit and HDR back!!

You’d think so, wouldn’t you.

Got a different cable you can try it with instead? Just to eliminate that cable as being the issue.

I've ordered a new displayport cable, and checked that the one i have is 1.4 so should be fine. I did a complete clean and re install of the display drivers and can get to 120hz now. But it still limits me to 6 bit colour and no hdr when i try 144hz. 144 hz has to be created in radeon software as it is not an option in windows though! I ******* hate these anomalous issues with pc's:mad:

Right i suppose i will have to stand up and own this one. Reading the small print in the manual when turning on Freesync premium pro it is locked to 120 hz due to bandwidth on this monitor. Something i should have known considering i have owned it for 18 months now. The 6 bit and hdr issues were due to leftovers from the vega64 drivers which DDU sorted out.....
