Monitor jumps to 'Signal error' when I start a program

I have a problem with a program I've just bought/ I try and run the .exe and the monitor clicks off and goes 'out of signal'.

The program still runs because I can hear it! I can alt+ctrl+del and stop the program.

Has anyone come across this problem in general with graphics cards and programs?

Override all resolution refresh rates to those within your monitors range.

How do I do that?
