Right problem :(

Normally when I turn my pc in and log into vista my screen starts flicking to black for a second or so then coming back. The power light on the monitor remains green the whole time.

Sometimes it sorts itself out randomly sometimes its gets worse and worse till it just stays black and I need to restart.

If I switch the cable to the other port on the GPU it's worse to the point where it stays black and I switch to the other port my monitor will be all yellow oddly.

I'm using a 24" 1920x1200 60hz rated Edge10 screen with a 8800GT gpu on vista.

I have determined its not to do with the monitor power brick overheating by keeping it very cool and also determined its not the graphics card seating or cables through testing.

Thanks for anyones help in advance.

Just checking, you've actually used an entire different, known working cable? Sounds like you've just moved the current one around a bit.

Yellow has always meant I haven't plugged it in properly.

Don't suppose you've been waggling the cable about to see if the connection gets any better have you? Either the cables knacked (lets hope you haven't actually tested with a good one) or you've broken the socket on the monitor. Don't suppose you have a spare monitor to try?

Could be other things, but thats definitely the most likely. Repairable for less than the cost of a new monitor if so

Have not tried with a different cable will try that.

Yeh a little bit of wiggling. If it was a socket knackered id imagine it being the GPU one but i think as both dont work properly it may be the cable which is nice to think as its nice and cheap to replace :D

Cheers
