Monitor no good for my eyes

Hi,
I have recently been processing some photos on a monitor which I bought off MM. Its nothing special, just a 19" TFT 4:3, HP brand.

The monitor is perfect for my normal needs of browsing and doing work, a bit of light gaming etc., it is connected via dvi to a 7600GT XXX.

The problem comes when I'm processing my photos. When I change some settings instead of refreshing straight away in a smooth action the photo would blur out for a sec and then refresh with the new settings. Am I making sense here?

If I process on my macbook, the changes are applied instantaneously and there is none of this blurring.

This blurring isn't too good for my eyes, just wondering whether it is caused by the monitor (low response time?), or my gfx card not being capable enough?

Photos I'm processing are 10mp RAW files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What CPU and how much ram have you got? (Macbook and main system).

You could try the screen with the MacBook to test.

The one thing I don't see it being is the graphics card.

I would guess your CPU is the issue, the Macbook is a lot faster so it's able to carry out the changes on large images straight away whereas the 3500+ takes a while to process them fully.

damn, was hoping I didn't need to upgrade to such an extent.

Might just get myself a 24" imac then.

Thanks for the replies.
