Hello guys, probably just a quick question for you.
Currently at work so can't post spec...sorry!
Basically I recently purchased 2GB (2x1GB) sticks of RAM. After inserting them into the Motherboard and running a hardware detection program, it was still only showing as having 1GB installed. Speaking to my cousin about this, he advised that 1 could be Master and 1 could be Slave, and to try and swap them round.
I swapped them round, but then when powering my machine back on the monitor isn't automatically picking up a signal. I have tried this with my VGA cable via both the graphics card & the onboard graphics of the motherboard, but still no response. I have tried resetting the CMOS by removing the Motherboard Battery for around 15 minutes, but that still gives me the same result.
Can RAM affect the display issues? I suppose the way to go about solving this would be to try a single RAM stick in either slot, then the other RAM stick and see if it works with just a single stick?
Also, at first, my PC would start up for literally half a second and then power itself down. Resetting the CMOS appears to have fixed this.
Appreciate you reading my lengthly post and look forward to your input
