Until recently, both my monitors were running @ 1280x1024. then I replace one of my monitors with a 19" widescreen tv, but for some reason, it won't run at a res higher than 1360x768, the native res for the widescreen is 1440x900. is there anyway for this monitor to run at 1440x900? I have a geforce 6800 and the latest drivers for my card (178.24).

OK, have you tried forcing the resolution from your display drivers, have you run windows update or installed any drivers for the screen (W/U had an update for my NEC monitor)

there's no way to force it, it won't let me select anything above 1360x768, that's the max res windows is letting me use. :(

If you haven't already, try:

Control Panel -> Display -> Settings tab -> Advanced -> Monitor and then unchecking 'hide modes this monitor cannot display' then select it from the display settings resolution slider.

tried that, when I selected 1440x900, it wouldn't display and reverted back to 1360x768. Looks like I'm stuck at this res then :(

How are you connecting? Most TVs now will need a HDMI or DVI connection to go above the res youre stuck at. I suppose you're connecting by VGA? If so, grab a DVI-HDMI cable and you should be sorted.

thanks, will try and get hold of one, but this monitor is only here as a temporary measure, so I'm not sure. I'm currently connecting with VGA.

finally got it to display @ 1440x900, I had to change the refresh rate from 60 to 75 (which is apparently unsupported??) but the only problem is the text has become a teeny weeny bit more difficuly to read
