atm i have a generic 17" monitor and a 7300 gfx card i am going to upgrade both of them in the next few months, i can't buy them both at the same time so what would i be better of getting first? a 8800gts 320mb or 20"+ lcd monitor?

8800 I would get first...performance and visual increase...instead of just visual increase. Also the 7300 would have a tougher time with a bigger screen.

BFG seems a popular choice here, as its backed by a lifetime warranty and BFG support quality is second to none.

I would go for the BFG, I have done! :)

Difficult choice to make between the two cause if you choose monitor you will have to play your games running quite low res and possibly jerky. The 8800's have only just come out (320MB) and maybe they will drop more in price.

If you can survive not playing many games for a month or two I would go for the monitor first, they are so cheap nowadays!

I'd go for graphics first, you play games while you save, no waiting.... and the card in question is on special, so why not...

if you get the monitor first, by the time you come to get the graphics card you'll probably get more (better graphics card) for your money :p

But then hes stuck with a pretty much unusable graphics card and a sick monitor. No thanks :) I'd get the graphics first.

I'd go for the monitor.

I've got a 24" which I run on a 6800GT. Not the best card but most games run fine on medium settings with low AA + AF.

Also, by the time you've saved up for an 8800 they might have dropped in price. :)

i'm too impatient for that lol

do you think there will be any drops in dx10 card prices in the next few months?

I have just seen a 8800 GTS 320MB < £190. They are bound to come down in price, products always do. They have only just been released even though the bigger memory GTS/GTX have been around for a while now. I would expect them to come down to around the £170/£180 mark.

but no dramatic price drops say of over 40/50 quid?
atm i have the money for the BFG 8800gts 320mb on ocuk that's on special offer, i think i would get it, is there like any other brands i should consider?

I don't think it will drop dramatically unless ATI release their new line and price them cheaper.......

Its on special to, so you've already saved a good chunk......

Don't think you have to snap it up just because it's on TWO. It can be had for that price elsewhere any time.

It's only £5 less than the usual anyway.

EVGA, Inno3D both do the 320MB not sure about any other brands just yet. Do a search on google. The BFG on special saves you £4. I got my BFG at that same price from another store and that was on 'special' so its nothing to jump at.

Exactly, and I have seen items go into the special offers and after the special is over they don't fall back to their original selling price everytime.

i think i will go for the monitor first as mine iws really dodgy.
which one? the Dell 2007wfp looks really nice, any others?
