Hi,

Just looking for some help/advice on what is best when it comes to photo editing. Been looking at the following monitors -

dell 2408wfp 24 inch
Hazro HZ24Wi 24 inch
dell 2709w 27 inch
dell 3007wfp-hc 30 inch
dell 3008 wfp 30 inch
Hazro HZ30W 30 inch

No as far as i know these are all s-ips screens which are all supposed to be good for photography. Also i believe the hazros come with a glossy screen, not sure if this is a good thing or not. Obviously if going for a 30 inch it would just be one, but if going for a 24 inch would it be a good idea to get a pair?

Please help

Personally id go for 2x 24" i find 2 screens really speeds up my work flow.

For photo apps i find 24" is big enough, and dual screens is more flexible than a single 30" screen... Left screen for library and all tools, right screen for Full screen preview.

Then left screen for PSCS3 and right screen for FTP uploading and web-browsing (Flickr, Facebook + anywhere else i want to dump my photos.)

Out of the 24" options, id stick with Dell, only because ive used 24" Dell screens and have never had a bad pixel, imo, a glossy screen is going to make it more difficult, ok the image will look sharper and brighter on screen, but youll have to be careful with youre room lighting.

Anyone got any suggestions or info. Im sure there are plenty of photography or graphics people on here that could make some suggestions surely?

I agree that two 24" screen are plenty big eough for photoshop work etc. I have used two for 3ds max stuff and they are great one is main viewport screen screen and the other for tool bars and reference imagies.

If you are buying 2 x 24" screens then why not buy the dell and the Hazro and then you can compare both of them side by side.

I don't have a dell screen but I think that once caliabrated then they may be better for photoshop as it has wider gamma. Have you thought about the HP lp2475w these are looking pretty good and have a wider gamma than the Hazro?

Not sure i fancy having one of each, if i was to get 2 i would have them matching. Does having wider gamma make the monitor better for photoshop work then?

No one have any suggestions? Am i asking something thats a bit obvious and not realising?

But remember, no screen in what I suspect is your price range is perfect. IF you want a good 30" you need to look at the NEC with the programmable LUT. The 24" version isn't available in europe, but the 26" one is. Both however, are 1.5-2x the cost of a comparable IPS screen from another manufacturer.

Welll indeed, but i simply cant justify spending well over a grand on a monitor.
Does anyone have any actual experience with any of the above monitors that i listed and can give me an insight into the pros and cons of how you find the monitor.

Cheers

So if the panels above arent ones people recomend for photo editing which ones would you go for ??

A friend who is very serious about his photography* has a Dell screen, a 24" model I think. Sorry can't remember the exact model but can find out if you want. It wasn't a cheap screen, but then art paper and printer ink isn't cheap either and he has no intention of wasting them by using a screen which cannot produce an accurate display of his images.

Note he will also have it profiled, and will use profiles for his printer as well.

As to if 2x24" are better than 1x30", I would choose for myself based on which setup provides more pixels, as long as there was room on my desk for both configurations. One drawback to a 2-screen configuration is being able to get sat properly so as to not get a crick in the neck after a while.

Overclockers are selling the Samsung SyncMaster XL20 LED for £279.99. This monitor was £900 when it was released 12 months ago. I have just ordered one as i don't play games or watch movies on my pc. The DVI connection is not hdcp compliant. Also, the monitor ships with a calibration device, so in reality the monitor is a bargain as calibration devices arn't cheap. See review
