Good morning.

I have a £300 budjet.
Thinking either a 40 " 4k TV
or a 30" dedicated monitor...

My new build will have a 1060 6 gig gtx mini gpu card.

Main requirements are for general browning, tv, films, flight sims & rpg.

I currently own an old 24" Dell 1600×1200 monitor fwiw..

Any advice welcome please.

Samsung's TVs look good...but so does a dedicated monitor....Confused.com

Good morning.
I'm thinking that a large screen would afford you to watch films at a distance (from bed...) and double up as a monitor for browsing etc. Also would be able to check out higher resolutions if my gpu can cope.
Or could just go with a dedicated smaller monitor and stick on a movable wall bracket (fonts must look tiny at higher resolutions?).
Just seems that TVs have come a long way since my last build and they seem so much cheaper than monitors.

Will read up on this freesync/gsync compatibility.
SOTR looks amazing on my old monitor...can't imagine what it must look like on something modern!

Not much bigger in 27" 16:9 low screens.
27" is barely bigger in vertical size than 24" 16:10.

The lower the screen aspect ratio, the smaller it is for diagonal. (while needing more space from desk)

Myself having had 30" Dell U3014 for years display "development" seems pathetic, because 27" models would be such small...

With sizes of TVs having gone up so much, have to wonder why that 30" class is such neglected in monitors with little development.

That monitor would have done the trick (amazing bang for buck). Unfortunately my gpu supports only G-sink. What you say about paying premium on G-sink ties in with what EsaT was saying (closed proprietary standard monitors that Nvidea use^ans added premium).
