Hello

Just formated the other day.

When I'm watching a movie or some video on my PC my monitor goes out of sync. I.E. it goes totally black and has unsupported resolution coming up, the past few times its happend half of the screen has gone black the other half is showing my what it should be.

I was previously with nvidias latest official drivers. Was getting that probelm, so today just put in the beta drivers. Still getting the problem...

Not sure whats causing it tbh as its fine when I'm bvrowsing the net etc, just when im watching videos it naffs up

all my drivers are installed, just looked in decive manager now..

Any help would be apprichiated

Hmm so it's doing it on Movie Playback? Does it do it on any application, i.e Quicktime, WMP11, DivX Player, etc?

Sounds like perhaps a codec being used for the playback maybe resizing the output resolution past the monitors capability.

Does it do it regardless of the movie type? i.e. MPEG, AVI, MOV?

Cheers.

Hmm i have seemed to have fixed the orrigional problem.

But now something else is happening.

When playing games my screen starts to jump kind of...

Like it looks like its trying to go to desktop in parts or is just flickering blakc/white every 10 secconds...

I have tried recording it in fraps but fraps doesnt pick it up???

Hmm try doing the drivers again, but this time do the following:

1. Uninstall Display Drivers via Control Panel.
2. Restart
3. Boot into Safe-Mode
4. Run Driver Cleaner Pro and search for "Nvidia" + "Nvidia WDM".
5. Browse your hard drive and make sure the Driver Folder is deleted.
6. Whilst in safe-mode, install the new drivers.
7. Restart back into Windows.

See if that fixes the problem, it may just be a naff install.

Hmmm it still seems to be doing it, any more ideas?

Hmm does it do it regardless of resolution size? i.e. 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024?

I wonder if the monitor or monitor cable is broken?

Does down-clocking the graphics card speed do anything?

I'll try a different resolution now.. Although it was working fine before the format.
I'll install coolbits when I get home later on and see how it goes

I'll post back soon

Cheers

Hmmm...

Old problem seems to have come back

Same thing happens with all resolutions too...

The thing is that it cant be a naft screen as when this comes up, i swithc the lcd into television mode it works perfect.

And if its the wire from the monitor to the PC how come it only happens when i put on some video ?

Doesn't sound like a naft lead to me but i cant check anyway as I don't have a spare lead (or rather I cannot find my old one)

When it goes **** up I can take a screen shot, and it will show the whole desktop. It doesnt show the blacked out space.

Kind of weird and I'm clueless to say the least.

Funny you should mention this problem. I got something similar in games with the new nVidia drivers i've had to go back to an older version to fix the problem. Hope that is of some help.

Hmmm... I have just created a new user to see if I would be still getting the same problems...
So far so good.
Will see how it gets on throughout the day

Thanks for the help :)
