I always thought that IPS had the best image quality but reading some posts on another forum it doesnt look the case

Does this sound correct?

Ah VA panels can have considerable ghosting so be sure to reseach well on the model you are getting. And IPS is no god, they are actually pretty bad if you sit very close to the monitor.

Response time wise TN >> IPS >>>>> VA

Image quality wsie VA >>>>> IPS >>>> TN

Viewing angle wise IPS >>>> VA >>>>>>>>>>>>>> TN

IPS has the best balance of image quality and response time but it's not necessarily superior to VA, it all depends on your preferences.

All sub $1000 LCD monitors are ultimatelly a piece of trash compared to a plasma or LED HDTV.

Taken from this forum - http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/topic/28744359/acer-s273hl-vs-benq-ew2730-

In quich case I might go with a VA panel that doesnt have horrible anti-glare. Something like a Benq EW2730 maybe?

ive got a dell eips screen and im more than happy with it, colors are good viewing angles r good,, and i sit close to it

Based on your first post you should just get yourself a TV.

It looks like we're all wasting our time and money with these sub $1,000 monitors

I had a Samsung 32" tv as a monitor. It was horrible to use. Bad colours and terrible ghosting

The Eizo SX3031W sounds like a fantastic screen. Shame its £1800!

Think i'm going to look for a 27" VA panel. IPS doesnt sound all that

My recently acquired Samsung 2333T has a cPVA panel, and it is great, and very cheap (120 euros). Only negative aspect: the stand is flimsy (it has VESA screws). Great contrast, good color, no sparkling effect of the slight AG coating. Happy with it, until the Hazro 27HA comes back from repair.

VA's have the best contrast, which is one of the main factors in image quality. IPS has more accurate colours.

Pick your poison. If not doing anything colour accurate, just go with the VA.

IPS is overrated.
VA is very underrated.

I guarantee that if 100 persons sit down with an IPS and a VA at least 75 percent would choose the VA.

Who cares if the colours are 100 percent accurate as long as it looks good? The IPS blacks and contrast are horrible!

I've gone from a 24" Dell 2405FPW VA screen to a 22" Dell E228WFP TN screen.

The VA has vastly better contrast and viewing angles.
The TN is better for FPS gaming.

I still have the 2405 and am not as yet convinced on which one to keep.

PLS is the exact same as IPS, Samsung just changed a few tiny things to avoid patent infringement.

It could be beneficial in the fact that the Samsung anti glare coatings are a LOT better than LG's. The first review I read about a pre production unit wasn't that great, however. Haven't come across any reviews of the final model yet.
