Evening,

Quick question regarding power leads for Dell Monitors. I got one delivered today but it didn't have a UK power plug despite being a UK Seller! I've emailed them to request one / replacement monitor with power supply suitable for the UK but in the meantime I'm going to borrow an old one from work.

When i say old I mean a plug from an old CRT monitor rather than one from a flatscreen.

I'm assuming there wont be any power / wattage / amp differences in the plug which would wreck my new monitor?

Stupid question i know but its better to find out :p

These 'kettle' power cables have been the same for years. I can't see why you can't use it, I'm using some power cables that are over 15 years old

The only difference between the cables from old monitors and new ones tends to be that the older ones may have a higher rated fuse :) (CRT's tended to draw more power than LCD's).
