Hello all,

Hope someone can help me out here, I suppose it would make sense to describe my Old system before my upgrade which is not caused a problem.

I have an LG L204WT-SF 20" monitor which uses a DVI-D connection, I used to have a Gigabyte GTX 970 graphics card until recently. At some point in the past I decided I wanted a second monitor for a dual screen configuration so I managed to find another monitor on Ebay the same as I already had. Unfortunately when I received it, it was a L204WS-SF which does not have the DVI-D connection but has a 15 pin D-Type connector.....Analog !

This didn't present a problem with my GTX 970 as it had a DVI-D and a DVI-I output so worked fine with the analog monitor. Both screen were at 1680 x 1050 resolution (1680 x 1050 was showing as 'Native Res' in Windows 7 64bit for both monitors) the quality of the analog monitor was almost identical to the digital one.

So here's my problem......

I've just invested in the MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 6gb card from overclockers and apart from a HDMI (which is in use) and x3 Displayport connectors, it only has a single digital DVI-D connector.

I purchased an adaptor off of ebay as follows:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361556334560?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

This plugs into one of the displayport connectors and hooks up to the VGA cable on to the monitor.

Now when I put the analog monitor on, Windows 'Screen Resolution' box show the recommended resolution as 1024 x 768 whereas before it had 1680 x 1050 as recommended with my old GTX 970. If I set the resolution to 1680 x 1050 (which the monitor is happy at) the screen is quite blurred, partially stretched horizontally and some of the desktop is, shall we say, off screen. No amount of playing with settings will sort it out. It's completely unusable.

I've even tried to Google search for another silver/black L204WT on line but cant find any, all I can find is the analog (WS) ones :-(

Can anyone help ?

How can I get this new card to correctly identify by 1680 x 1050 resolution on the analog monitor with this 1060 card ?

Is the problem the Displayport -> 15pin D adaptor I purchased maybe ?

Has anyone got a L204WT in Silver & black they want to sell ?

Many Thanks for any help offered
Paul
