Monitor problems linked to graphics card?

I posted this in the monitor forum but got no replies so maybe someone in this section might be able to shed some light.

I have one of these

Connected to a nvidia 6600 and every now and then at completely random times my monitor will go black and say something like 'standy mode' and the message will float around the screen like a screensaver.

This hasn't happend for a while, about two months, but i just wondered if anyone had any simlar problems. When it does happen it's usually reacuring for a week or so then goes away.

I've got a OCZ 600w psu and really want an excuse to upgrage my gfx card but don't want to make a dent in my student loan unless i really need to. ( ie, this problem is gfx card related)

Any help on this situation would be greatly apreciated.

What does it say in the power options menu in windows for your monitor.

Ok no worries.. Its just a bit fustraiting because if im halfway thought some work i have no chance of saving it. :/

Might be best to get it replaced ive been reading on the dell forums and there seem to be a few people with power problems sim to yours.

Have a look you might spot something that will help.

I've got exactly the same problem with a 7800GTX. Not got a fix, but if I plug/unplug the DVI connector afew times I can usually get it back on.
