Monitor Query with native resolution Trouble

Hi all.

Just built my girl friend today a new gaming pc based around the 560 ti graphics card. She has a LED LG monitor which can display 1980x1080 resolution.

For some reason when im in games the only resolution that she can display is her native one which is 1240x768 something like that. Which confuses me.

The wire connecting from the monitor is a vga which is then connected to a dvi adapter then straight into the graphics card.

Is they a solution to improving her resolutions in game please as they look really crap at the moment

Hi there. i have to add 1980 x 1080 to the resolution list manually and when i go into games 1980 x1080 does not display as a compatible resolution

Unfortunately the monitor did not come with driver discs as it was second hand, could this have an impact on the resolutions?

The monitor that it is, is a LG E2240

Yup setting it in nvidia, when i go onto the LG menu on the screen it says 1980 x 1080 d-sub. Im really confused :S

I do apologise for the late response guys i got called out late last night with work....

The LG monitor that she has only has a vga port at the back of the monitor and no dvi input.

When right clicking the Desktop settings, Ive changed the resolution to 1980 x 1080 but for some reason says its identifying it on monitor 2? its also showing as 60 refresh rate

Hmm just had a look into device manager and the only monitor showing is one called "generic non PnP monitor"

Still no joys

tried scanning for update than uninstalled after that failed, re booted and still suggests it is a generic monitor....

In the nvidia control panel it says under connectors : VGA - Pc display

Well according to the driver properties, the version you have installed is the same version i have installed :S
