Hello guys i seem to have a problem that has only recently (about 2 weeks) started. It does seem to be pritty random anything between 5 to 20 minutes the screen will just go black, as if the screen saver has just come on for being idle (while i am using the computer, makes no sense to me)

I have checked my power options (windows 7) and my screen saver has been turned off, hibernation off too so, i have no idea what is causing it to do this, nothing set on my monitor either to make it go off.

uninstall your video drivers and reinstall them...

I will try that, i have just reverted back to the drivers i used before will see how that goes first.

Full system specs?

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Asus M4A785TD-V Evo AMD 785G (Socket AM3) DDR3
NZXT Apollo Gaming Case
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
OcUK Swift 750W V2 Silent Power Supply
Windows 7 64 bit

No discrete GPU? You're using the onboard then?

... You're using an OcUK Swift PSU? Well... I think I can see the problem.

Well I bet you it's probably the PSU finally struggling to power the 5770. You should avoid the OcUK PSU range if you're building a gaming PC, they give very poor amps on the 12v rail and aren't made from reliable quality parts. I would usggest replacing it with something like this if you want to stay cheap: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-063-OC

i originally had this Corsair CX 400W ATX Power Supply (CMPSU-400CXUK)

but the fan went on it, so just bought a cheap one as i was planning on building a new PC

Well, even for a cheap PSU, the Swift range doesn't have the power to power a 5770. Even the CX 400 is a better PSU. When did you replace the PSU?

over a year ago, plays all my games perfectly fine(BF3, ME2+3, Fifa 12 ect ect), as i said its like the monitor will go into sleep mode, really strange.

I would still replace it anyway, I wouldn't trust that PSU in my system at all. Could be the PSU finally on the verge of giving up.

I suppose you could try updating the graphic drivers to see if that helps.

The problem seems to have happened when i updated them. When i build my new computer i will put a better PSU in there.

just realised there is an update for my card, will try this and hope it fixes my problem.

Thanks for all your help guys.
