Monitor Recommendation Please

I'm after a bit of advice regarding a monitor please folks.

Currently use a 32" HP Omen, 75hz Freesync 1440p VA jobbo but I want a higher refresh rate.

My requirements :

27" or above
144hz +
1080p or 1440p (ideally 1440p)
VA / IPS
Gsync

In theory you can't go wrong with 27 inch IPS - the issue is the panel lottery. I had (well still do have) an Acer XB270HU and it has been a stalwart for the last 5 years or so. I have just upgraded to ultrawide although I'm undecided as to what to do with the Acer. It's an excellent unit with no faults at all. The only 'downside' is I went for the Acer Z35P which is VA. Having said that I think it's great. I get no ghosting while gaming and the colours are very good - just not QUITE IPS quality but it's damn close. IMO given the price difference between similarly spec'd IPS and VA monitors I would have no hesitation in recommending a VA and saving yourself a few hundred quid - unless you're a professional photo/video editor and colour reproduction is of paramount importance. I am a photographer but only freelance for the local press so it's not a vital attribute I need. Indeed I have never calibrated any of my monitors anyway (not with hardware at least) and the Z35P seems to come in closer to my MacBook Pro than the XB270HU.

The one thing I would say is stay away from 1080p. Unless FPS is a major factor for you and you don't have a stonking GPU then go for a 1440p, it is better in every way except it will impact on your FPS. I can get 130FPS+ with my GTX 1080 in most of my games.
