Right basically once I've moved into the new house hopefully by the end of December in which I'll be stealing the fourth bedroom as my study; should have a nice 2m long desk in there so I'll have space to expand ;)
What I'm after is a 21-24" FULL HD [1920x1080 minimum] that isn't going to cost over £200. I know a lot of people recommend Dell and Samsung monitors that seem to be +£100 more than any others, and they're that price for a reason (supposedly), but to be frank I'm just looking for a cheap solution to game at high res. It will likely be alongside my current 19" 1440x900 HANNspree monitor so black would be preferred but isn't essential.
My 9800GT probably won't cut it well which is why I'll be purchasing a 4890 in the forthcoming weeks as well.

Any help is much appreciated :D

*EDIT* forgot to add a budget; probably up to £150ish max, might stretch a little bit more if it's really worth it :D

You most likely won't get that great a picture from a £150 1920x1080 monitor... I splashed out for a Dell 2209WA (1680x1050) and I've never looked back. I was at the time looking at the same kind of thing as you, but so many people raving about the Dell made me go for it.

Picture quality is definitely worth the extra cost. I'm never buying a "cheap" monitor again.

Sorry I'm not exactly offering an opinion on what choices you've given, I just thought you'd want to hear from someone who's been through this.

Oh yeah, just an extra thing... The Dell's scaling is great. I've been forced to play some games at 4:3 resolutions, so 1280x1024 (old games, widescreen hacks don't work) and instead of squishing the image out to give everyone really wide heads, it gives you black edges, making it look as it should do. Scales it up so the 1024 height fills the 1050 screen, too.

4:3 is the only other mode it has though. There's no 1:1 pixel mapping. No idea whether that's standard or not but thought I would be a busy body and point it out :D And tbh I have 1:1 pixel mapping and I'm sure I could live without it :p

SMAndy: What size monitor did you go from? I'm thinking of 'downgrading' from 24" to 22" but I'm worried I'll regret it :S

The theory goes that I'll have more desk space, I won't have to ever sit back from the desk to be far enough from it. Might get less eye strain - not sure how much that is related to size - I sit about 80cm from it... And I'll be more likely to work than watch movies and play games... May be...
