hey guys,

I have connected to my new Mac, a Samsung Odyssey G5 monitor..

I was having a issue connecting HDMI to HDMI on the Mac mini and screen, so I used an adapter (usb C to HDMI) and its working fine..

The issue is, the resolution is fine but the refresh rates are only giving me 60/72 hz???

Anyone that can reply ASAP would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

turned down the resolution, got 120hz now running, must be the cable support?

If I ordered a Thunderbolt to Display port, would that help the situation?

I got 120hz from a Mac Mini using a USB-C to displayport cable I bought for about 12 quid on Amazon. Before I bought the computer I checked if HDMI 2.0 (which the Mac Mini has) will allow 1440p at high refresh and didn't get a clear answer, which prompted me to buy the displayport cable in advance.

@Squink

So your USB C to DP cable works at 2K 120hz?

just ordered the same / similar cable from amazon, should support like I need!

Cheers.

Could only get 85Hz at max res on my Dell ultrawide on HDMI

Changed to a USB-C to DisplayPort (and switch to allow for pc too) and at full 144Hz 3840x1600

awesome, I was the same, HDMI was options of 60/72 hz max?? :(

New cable arrives today but probably won't setup until tomorrow, when I monitor riser arrives, as a will need to start from scratch, so plenty of time tomorrow to faff about with that, cable management and all that jazz! :D

setup done. new cable (USB C to Display port) now sitting at 1440p 120hz, well happy! :D

Oh, and, new mouse has been so much better without lag or skipping, shame, as I quite liked the MX Master 3!

Here I am back on a thread that I had offered advice on looking for advice !

As I posted above I am able to run my MacBook Pro with the TB to Displayport Cable at high refresh no issue. This was my only option as the monitor I had only had one DP input.
I have just taken delivery of the Dell S2721DGF which, for those that aren't familiar with it, has 2x HMDI 2.0 and DP 1.4.
Now, my PC needs to use the DP to avail of the full 165hz and Gsync. So rather than do what I had already been doing and having to change the cables over every time I change from PC to MacBook, and vice versa, does anyone know of a 'dongle' out there that has HDMI 2.0 output? The monitor should run HDMI @120hz which is more than enough for my MacBook when docked.
I know there are cables and if it comes to that then fair enough but if possible I'd rather have a full on dongle so I only have one thing to plug in to my MBP. The dongle ideally would have HDMI 2.0 as I said plus a PD charging port, SD card reader and a couple of USB ports.

Any suggestions welcome!
