Sons monitor has developed a self inflicted fault (got rage bashed, the little scroat), its not a mega expensive screen. £200 at the time but decent enough for 1080p gaming.

Is this even a thing these days?

If LCD panel is broken, as is the likely case, replacing it would likely cost far more than the value of monitor.

Anyway for such use old CRT might be better as it's much stronger built than LCD panel.
(and hurting fist should be good growing experience...)

Worth going on flebay and typing in model of monitor and then screen..... see if there are any 3rd party replacement screens for sale and if its reasonably priced.

Its not too tricky to do, sometimes youtube has some guides available showing you how to get it done or on similar models. If its not available or too pricey or you can't do it then probably easier to replace it.
