Monitor replacement options 43"+

Currently have the LG 43UD79 and its a brilliant monitor though it looks like it is developing a fault, where get a line of static flash across the screen along with what sounds like an electrical crackle/pop sound which is not good, so looking at trying a replacement power board of eBay for about £50 but should that not work what is a good replacement?

I am not fussed with high refresh rates, do not play games where it matters, mostly its MMOs, youtube, internet and what not.

Size wise ideally no smaller than 43" could go bigger I do have room on the desk did look at the 48" LG OLED but not sure on the whole burn in thing yet, but what would people suggest budget wise £500-£1500

If you don't want high/variable refresh rates the Acer DM431K is the only one I can find for sale. Your next best bet would be the Aorus FV43U which is approx double the price but does come with variable refresh support.

Otherwise it's a TV, if your UK based then head to Currys and have a look for the Sony 43XH9196 which is exclusive to them. I saw it side by side with the slightly lower spec 43XH8505 and it was noticeably better, in part thanks to the 100hz panel - much smoother, less judder. You won't find it on the website as the XH series has been replaced by the XJ series but the larger stores may still have some units left. Price wise it was around £569 iirc. If your happy to go to 48"+ but don't want the potential burn in concerns then I would check out the Sony 49XH9505. Again you will probably only find this in store but if you can find anywhere carrying stock it should be around £850 and you will not find a better TV for the money imo.

I've just gone for the C1 48 OLED, its taken me a week or so to adjust but its a beast and the image quality is superb i think once you go OLED you wont go back. If you are worried about burn in, you can purchase from a very reputable onleine company that offer a 5 year warranty for screen burn for £140. Its worth it for the piece of mind as i like a brighter a screen so i have HDR on all the time e.t.c

I might invest in the C1 this weekend, what is this about a certain company offering 5 year burn I warranty. Also how bad would the burn in have to be, I imagine they have a scale.

But your dammed right, I remember back in the day using a plasma and eventually getting the burn in on that, toolbars and hud's.

Possibly, makes me think replacing the power board would be a good idea as that's a cheap fix
 
So replaced the powerboard and still got the same issue, there are another two boards in the monitor the main board and a tcan board, could look at replacing those.

Been looking at reviews of the Aorus FV43U but seems to get mixed reviews, also looked at the C1 again, and the mother in law gets a discount so the cost between the FV43U and the LG C1 is around £150 so seems like an idea to go for the C1, plus can get the anti-burn in cover which ok its £140 extra but good piece of mind.

check for dry joints thourhg out the tv, could be a cracked or dry solder joint just needs reconnecting
 
Shame the Philips 436M6 isn't readily available and price has doubled when it is :( though it isn't perfect - you need to sit back a bit from it due to BGR pixel format, etc. and the adaptive sync range is somewhat limited (though seems fully G-Sync compatible) otherwise it has a nice feature set and stuff looks good on it. Despite being 60Hz and limited adaptive sync range in low latency mode it provides a good responsive experience for non-twitch gaming without or with much reduced negatives that are present on many VA panels when it comes to motion.

There is also a 55" 120Hz version of it.
