Monitor Resolution Issues

I bought a new monitor not long ago and the native resolution is supposedly 1920x1080. However this resolution leaves black borders around the display.

Up until today I have been using 1680x1050 which was the only resolution that filled the screen, however this has now changed and the only one which works is 1600x900. I've tried downloading multiple sets of drivers but no luck.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is my monitor: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-051-IY

Have you installed the monitor's driver so that Windows "knows" what resolutions it can display? Available here.

Are you using a HDMI cable?

What graphics card are you using?

see if you can do 1920*1200 resolution. if 1680x1050 fills up the screen then OcUK might have mislabelled its resolution and aspect ratio because 1680 x 1050 is 16:10 ratio

The easiest solution is to use a DVI cable but then you wouldn't be able to use the monitor's speakers.

So when you right click on the desktop and select screen resolution is your monitor identified correctly as the "Iiyama ProLite E2407HDS"?

What's the highest resolution displayed in the drop down box?

This is an overscan problem. In the Nvidia control panel you need to find the overscan setting and set that to 0%. I had to do this with AMD cards as well everytime I connected it by HDMI and the resolution was 1080p. It must be a strange HDMI thing .

The highest resolution displayed in the drop down box is 1920x1080 which is also the recommended resolution, and yes it does identify the screen.

As for the overscan settings it wont let me adjust them in the catalyst control center, however it appears that it is already set to 0%.

Hmm that's strange, I have three of the same monitors as you and they can display 1080p perfectly on HDMI, after changing the overscan from 15% to 0% to remove the black borders. This was with both my 5770 and 6850.

If it's possible to try DVI? The monitor comes with both a DVI and VGA cable. It also comes with a 3.5mm audio cable as well so you can still use the speakers on your monitor (although I find them absolutely rubbish).

I Am using a HDMI Cable and this is my graphics card: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-114-MS.

And I already have those drivers installed.

How/why are you using Catalyst Control Centre with an Nvidia card?

Hmm so you definitely can't fiddle with the overscan settings? You're on this screen right?:
