Monitor/s upgrade or not?

I currently have one of the hard to find NEC 24Wmgx3 and its definately the best monitor I've had but I am thinking about dual or even triple monitor gaming. What options do I have here, my budget isnt great (£500) as I may have to factor in another gpu to replace or keep my 5870 company.

What will the monitors be used for? If they're just for web / every day stuff then you can get a 1080 monitor for £200.

Fps games and web mainly with some irc and office stuff secondary. What's with all these 1920x1080 these days?
