using a HP w19 monitor and a 7800GT in the nvidia drivers (91. series) whats the best monitor scaling option to select for say trying 1:1 mapping as the monitor itself dosen't have the option?

For desktop use native. In gaming use native if possible, if you can't then use monitor scaling. It looks fine. afaik Nvidia and ATI's allow you to stretch the image to fit if you're not sending native resolution of the panel.

thx for the quick reply, but monitor scaling is fine for desktop as I have the native res set, but in non native resolutions it will stretch, just wondered what the best scaling option is so non native resolutions don't stretch.

For 1280x1024 I use Fixed aspect ratio scaling, and for 1024x768 I use "centered output" - in nvidia driver options, under "nView display settings". Although I am not sure if it will work if your monitor doesn't support 1:1 pixel mapping, mine does so I can do it via the drivers or the monitors options.
