I am looking at changing my 19" wide tft screen. Initially I was thinking of a 22" but there seems to be a lot of talk of going 24". I don't intend to wall mount the screen, I just want to put it on my desk. Can anyone tell me if a 24" is comfortable to look at all day if on a desk?

Yes it is. May take a little getting used to coming from a 19" but as many will attest to you won't want to go back after you've used a 24" for a bit.

I use a 30" and 22" on my desk and after the initial omfg its huge factor, cause its a nice high res its just more desk space. Using a 32 TV that was only 720p this close woud ahve been horrible, and indeed was horrible whenever I sat in front of the tv as i was sorting stuffs out on the HTPC or something.

1920*1200 means you can have two full size A4 docs next to each other so is much better for work, but people prefer 1080p for movies etc.

2560 I can fit three side by side :)
