Monitor start up problem?

Whenever I turn my computer on, the monitor just stays black and the light will flash... If I take the cable out it no longer says check signal cable or comes up with an analogue/digital message. It also makes a slight noise when the blue light comes on.

Fiddling with the cable seems to have no effect either, once its on it will stay on but usually takes around 10 minutes and doesn't flicker.

Any suggestions guys? Monitor is a 4 year old 22" Samsung 226BW.

Thanks.

If anyone happens to have the same problem this is how I fixed it (15 minute job);

Took apart my monitor. Noticed several "leaking" components ...

Turns out they were capacitors, which after a quick wiki store energy (basically batteries)... Hence why it would take minutes for it to turn on and work.

Ordered replacements online (£3 for 5), making sure they were the same uF and V. ... Now works like new, saved myself £150.

I have a 23" synchmaster, that's being doing this for nearly 2 years now :)

I boot up, login once i hear the start up sounds, and then go away and do something for 5 minutes or so!

Going to buy a new monitor, so will do the replace on the capacitors when I have a spare one, incase i do my usual and mess up :)
