I’ve decided to buy a new monitor that will be used for gaming and also 6hrs a day of spreadsheet work. Currently I don’t game and my wife has been using a Dell Ultrasharp 3008WFP 2560 x 1600 monitor. I have just picked up a 3080ti and 13600k.

I want a bigger screen but unsure if an ultrawide would suit us or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

No specific games to be honest, just looking for something that will play games well and will be good for work. Budget of around £1200.

UW is definitely what you want for work and in my opinion for games too. Alas Dell have just ended the AW3821DW which would have been my first choice. They came out less than two years ago but have been pretty much replaced by the AW3423DW so they are difficult to find now. I believe Currys have some in stock for £1050. The colours are excellent, the screen is way bigger than your existing screen, and it's a really solidly build G-Sync monitor. The only downside to them is the contrast could be better and it's not really good enough for HDR.

I think if you come down from that resolution then you really don't need to spend that much. There is the almighty AW3423DW and AW3423DWF but these don't make ideal business monitors.

What about something like a Cooler Master GP27U?

4K HDR with FALD (576 zones), 90w PD for laptop via USB C and a KVM switch so you can use connected devices with PC or work device without having to change the connection.
