Monitor suggestions

Hi all.

I currently run a MSI Optix MAG322CQR monitor.

I am currently interested in perhaps upgrading due to a recent issue I have noticed which is weird colour smearing when playing games like farthest frontier etc. from my searching it's just a downside of a VA panel.

Is there any suggestions on an upgrade for this? I am UK based and ideally would love to keep my budget below £400 or near to. I am not interested in OLED but I really appreciate vibrant colouration in my games. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would be looking for 4K higher refresh rates or 1440p higher refresh rates and it will need to be 32".

My current panel seems to be highly rated so I find it hard to let go if it's just a good monitor

It's a good monitor
The smearing as you found out
Is a downside of a VA panel

Going to be a personal choice
Whether it's annoying you enough to spend £400
Or not though
I'm happy to spend £400 to try and resolve the issue as long as I don't end up with a worse monitor of that makes sense? My gripe with it is that when side scrolling on games like farthest frontier the colours shift. Especially noticeable in autumn where the dominant colour is orange and red. It will go from a natural autumn colour to a radioactive orange with smearing and it's kind of a major eyesore honestly. I assume my options are oled and IPS but oled I concern over burn-in as I play a lot of settlement games and RTS with static GUIs. My concern with IPS is what's going to be a good one for a reasonable price that I won't be giving up so much over my current monitor. I know LG has some high credit for good screens with excellent colour (though I'm after vibrant more than realistic/accurate)

oled will be out of that price range anyway
though dell do offer warranty against burn in
not sure any other company does

yes not being able to see in person
definitely makes life harder

just spent £500 recently on a mini led
which should be next best thing to oled
but lot cheaper
and to be honest about it
i dont see a great difference from my previous
gigabyte ad27qd which is now my 2nd monitor
its better but not 500 quid better
so can see what your worry is
part of its probably because windows and proper HDR
which this mini led is capable of
proper HDR just doesnt seem to work well on windows

if theres a particular monitor interests you
i recommend youtube reviews by monitors unboxed
Yeah, it's rough lol. I have watched many of their videos recently trying to decide but I don't seem to be able to process the information they provide for my own benefit.

Example when he discusses contrast ratio, clearly my VA panel is the winner 3000:1 is better than 1000:1 but does that mean that the colour rendering is superior (I don't mind blacks not being black as I game next to a marine tank that glows bright blue so my eyes bleed lol).

Does that kind of contrast make games more vibrant? Will I be able to get lost in those bright lush orange hues or crispy whites of the snow as well as my current screen? I think I just lack the general screen performance knowledge, or atleast what it means for me.

yeah and everyones eyes are different too
what one person likes another may find not to their taste
me i actually dont like the very "black" blacks of my mini led
if playing a game in a dark area lol

is 3000 to 1 better than 1000 to 1
on paper yes
but to your eyes?

if oled really dropped prices
then yeah
i was soooooo tempted by the dell 34 inch oled
but at around a grand it was just too painful
saw it at £740 black friday so they definitely have leeway
to lower the price all the time

guess i am as indecisive as you
when it comes to monitors lol
so many models as well as a few technologies to pick from
just makes it harder
It's a hard choice to make lol.

I think I might get the LG, if I don't like it my partner can have it as she's looking to upgrade from a 1080p screen so I guess 2 birds one stone lol

As I said above when linking it, I have the VA version and it is VERY good for a VA, so you'll LOVE that nanoIPS version and for that price you cannot say no! Just get a nice vesa foot/stand for it if you're picky like me or tall like me haha and you're set!
Enjoy!
Thank you for the help, I hope I do but if not I can still make use of it! :) I'm sure I'll probably love it, I've wanted an LG monitor for many years but just never been the right time haha

Ooof i was like that for ages, probably a year and a half? Now that im finally on it, just wow especially in HDR for games, it's such a tremendous upgrade compared to my VA panel. Even more so cos i still have 2 VA panels next to my QD OLED on either side which makes the VA's look so dull and grey in comparison.

I only wish i had jumped on it sooner tbh.
Yeah I see it and Im like hell yeah, but then I remember I play in a well lit room with a marine tank and multiple terrariums that have daylight white lights on them, I play RTS style games with loads of static icons on the screen just ain't worth it for me haha

you can let us know
if you like it once you get it

if you dont
wasnt me suggested it first
Hey! Can confirm this monitor is amazing lol. The colour is even more vibrant than my old VA screen, dark corners are rough without the black equaliser but overall super pleased and no more weird ass colour smearing in my games during autumn! I just need to get used to going from a curved screen back to a flat screen, I sat Infront of it and it looked like the edges were miles away. Convexed looking thing haha. Few hours it was less noticeable but still feeling it. Hoping after a few days my eyes will normalize
