Monitor switching off and on

Hi, my monitor has just started turning itself off and on repeatedly. I think it must be the power cutting in and out but not sure if it's a problem with the monitor itself or with the cable. It will turn on and the Asus logo will flicker on before a small pop noise and it turns itself off, only to immediately show the Asus logo again and do the same thing.

It's an Asus MG248Q. Anyone know if it's possible to buy a new power cable and adapter for it? And if so does it have to be one specific to that model or would any generic power cable do as long as it has the same specs? Or does it sound like the whole monitor needs replacing?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Might be power supply on its way out most likely because of failing capacitors.
Voltage could be initially enough, but dropping when load pick ups causing controller/logic to shutdown.
Which decreases power supply's load and makes voltage stabilize for loop to start again.

So it's likely the monitor itself is ok and buying a replacement cable would be a fix? And would that be the plug to the AC adapter box too or just the adapter box to DC power input cable? Here is what the unit looks like.

Would it have to be an exact Asus replacement part or would any new cable with those same power specifications do the job?

Those dumb bricks are designed to bake themselves dead by lack of any real cooling.
They should come attached to many times bigger chunk of aluminium as heatsink.

19 volts (DC) and 3.4 amperes are the figures to match.
Though current rating could be also some amount higher.

Ok so even any old laptop AC adapter cable is safe as long as it does 19 volts and 3.42amps output? Sorry for being wary, just don't want to get the wrong one.
