Hi guys, I'm hoping someone here can help me out with a very strange problem I'm having with my ATI 4770. It has been working brilliantly since I got it on release but last night when I loaded up generals (having played it fine the previous night) the monitor switched off. The rest of the PC went on working fine and I could hear generals load up but the monitor refused to display an image.

I tried a reboot and it was fine during post but it again switched off just before the windows login screen. It boots fine in safe mode so I used that to remove all the ATI drivers using driver cleaner as it wouldn't let me uninstall in safe mode =/

So once the drivers were gone it booted up normally but then the latest CCC + Driver wouldn't install, it just seems to terminate without any message just after I click the 'install' option. So my solution was to use windows update to find the drivers which it did but it is bugging me no end knowing that my PC isn't quite right. I rolled my PC back a week to when it worked fine but the same problem now persists once again.

Specs:

Intel Q9450
Asus P5K Premium
Corsair XMS2 4GB 800MHz
Windows 7 RC

Sorry about the wordy post but I hope someone can help :)

looks like the same problem i once had and it could be the power supply i also would randomly get a black screen while playing games... just randomly go off like its in stanby? but you can still hear sound? and pc is still on right? then that could be your power supply that was my problem i also did the mistake in thinking it was the graphics card :/

Yes those symptoms seem to be the same apart from the fact it seems to be a one off thing in that once its happened it's broken untill I go into safe mode and remove the drivers  My power supply is a Corsair HX 520W so should be able to power it.
