Monitor to watch tv

Sorry for totally newb question I have the asus 27ve 8q and want to know ,can you just use a set to box connected via hdmi to monitor.Or does this not work,sorry if this is a dumb question but would like to know if this would work,without inbuilt tuner

If the set top box has a tuner in it and your dish/aerial is connected up, then yeah, that'd work fine

If you're just watching freeview/freesat you might consider getting a dvb-t or dvb-s pci card for your pc and then you can just plug the aerial into that and watch TV and capture the streams directly on your pc. Cut out the middle man
