Monitor turns off, no idea why...

Hey.

My monitor keeps turning off, in games, internet, anything. There seems to be no pattern. I thought this could be my 4850 overheating, because it showed the overheat light. I put an Artic Cooling Twin Turbo on, and now the light doesn't happen, but still my monitor turns off.

My PC is still running when my monitor turns off. I've tried to turn my monitor back on, but it's just in "power saving mode". I have to turn my PC off and back on to get it to work again. I'm guessing it's my 4850, a problem with that not overheating, something else.

Does anyone know?

I've had that with a couple of dying power supplies, do you have anything else to test with?

Also got that on a rebuild of a friends computer where the connectors on the board were somehow showing signs of rusting (god knows how).

The power supply would be the first thing I check, board second and then I'd consider looking at the graphics card. Are the PSU or board budget brands or..?

I haven't got another system to do this with. My only other PC is a Dell with no slot for a graphics card.

I'm pretty sure it's my 4850 though. My power supply seems to be running fine, everything else to.
