Monitor upgrade recommendations

I last bought a monitor in 2009! Got 2 Samsung 24inch 1900by1200 monitors currently.

Have decided it is time to replace them with a new 4k monitor (just the one) as feel I'd get more benefit and really have very little use for dual display. Guessing with a 4k monitor you rarely need to drag stuff onto a second screen too.

I used to always think 24inch was the ideal size but looking more like the standard is 27/28 inches for 4k ones?

Anyone got a recommendations? My main considerations are:

-Needs to good for gaming (low input lag) and general internet browsing
-Needs a well designed (and hopefully small) base and stand with options to align it up and down

Size wise, I am open minded but feel like anything over 28 inch could be too much for gaming and/or general internet browsing?

I am guessing DisplayPort is the way to go over HDMI too (although all modern ones seem to have both options). Also, bit worried about how small font will be on a max res. Does anyone find it a strain?

I just upgraded from a 32" 4K screen (XB321HK) to an LG 27GN950 and am really happy with it. They cost £750 retail but are good spec for the price compared to the other high refresh rate 4K screens on the market. Its a bit limited on my system as I'm still using a 1080Ti so can't use DSC so only get 120hz, rather than the full 144hz but sill a good upgrade from a 60hz panel.
Saying that they will probably be out of stock most places as being replaced with the new version which supports HDMI 2.1 which is a bit better bandwidth wise than Display Port 1.4 so that would be the better buy, new model is 27GP950.

If you are buying a 60hz panel you will need at least HDMI 2.0 to run at 60hz, HDMI 1.4 will only go up to 30hz at 4K. Or just use Display Port instead :)

Yeah I have to use DisplayPort as my GTX 960 HDMI output pins got snapped!

That is bit more than I was looking to spend though. Anything closer to the 300-400 mark?

You might want to consider a graphics card upgrade too if you are using it for gaming at 4K, if your 960 is the 2GB version you are going to struggle. I'd recommend a 980Ti, 1080, or 3070 as a minimum really.

Did you have to move it much closer because of smaller size?

Myself have been waiting something to replace over 8 yeas old 30" Dell U3014 and it has slightly bigger image height than 32" 16:9.
But 32" 100+Hz capable 4K monitors just don't seem to be getting released for sale.

Yeah about a foot closer. I used to have the 32" around the back of my 160x80cm desk but have the 27" around the middle now so about 2 feet away compared to 3 feet. I have everything on monitor arms so its easy enough to move them around. I was holding out for another 32" but as you say there simply isn't anything decent on market yet, its all 27" or 43"+

The more I look into this the more I am thinking of just sticking to my 2 24" ones for now. 1900by1200 is a good general res for most stuff.
