Monitor Upgrade

We can't give you ideas until you provide more information. What are you upgrading from? What is your budget? Will it be used for gaming/photo editing/internet? What size are you looking for etc.

Hi mate sorry for lack of info:)

Mainly for gaming and internet,my budget is around £450ish upgrade from a sony (MFM-HT 205)20 inch monitor.

In that case, the OCUK 24" would be a great buy, you'd get a lot of change out of £450 for it, and it's just as good, if not better than the Dell. The only thing is, it doesen't have height adjustability, but for the price no argument is really justifiable. A new VESA stand for it can be easily accuired from that well known auction site.

It's also a VA panel, not a cheaper TN, so viewing angles and colour unifirmity are far superior to cheaper models. For the money it's superb, can't recommend it enough. ;)

Agree with Steve2000

Got this 24" and still loving it :D

Real Bargain (even when not on the sale-list)

Quality Panel

Can't fault mine (or all the others i've got people to buy lol)

Highly reccomend it :)

It is a great value monitor, and will save you a good deal over the Dell, but it would be very hard to argue that it is better.

If both were the same price, I'm pretty sure most people would buy the Dell.

cabmanuk,

The glossy ones tend to be TN panels

The matt/satin/dull ones are not TN

These 24" are VA Panels (not glossy)

As i say for the price they are a bargain and i can't fault them, OK the stand is economically made ;) it doesn't have height adjust and the base is a thin design ohh and the led is pretty bright but i don't look at the led (now got blutack over it) i don't adore the stand as i play/surf and i don't swing off my desk like a monkey on speed thus making an issue out of the stand stability/wobbability (is that a word ?? lol)

So all in all a damn nice cheap piece of kit

It all depends on whether you really want to or not. If you have the money going spare, and fancy a change, then by all means go for it. If, on the other hand, you are quite happy with what you've got, and it does the job just fine then you may want to reconsider.

Thanks Steve

Is there a big in difference in res 1900x1200 to 1680x1050?

Sorry to sound dumb have not seen any games running in 1900x1200:)

To run games in 1900x1200 would require a decent graphics card, especially considering the games of today. It will still run them fine at 1680x1050.

In terms of just normal usage i.e. internet browsing, you get a lot more space with 1900x1200, which allows for what I think is a much more enjoyable experience. ;)
