My fabulous ship
Hey guys I got a networking issue I just cant get my head around...

while playing wow, my connecting freezes for 3-5 seconds then catches on itself, now it can be one of 2 problems:

Software problem - something is disconnecting it, either bad drivers, bad software config

hardware problem - I got a dud wireless controller.

Im using windows vista 64 bit ultimate, I've had the problem since having the pc (february - its a P5E3 Deluxe wifi) so as you can guess its really getting on my nerves.

I got all the latest drivers, but I would like to check what is using my net connection at the same time, maybe an application fault? I cant imagine it being wow but the issue is only noticeable in wow. connecting via ethernet causes no issues, so its a wifi conflict but I just dont know with what :S

Tried all channels, signel is "very good", tried with software and microsoft controls, tried with 2 different routers... Im starting to think its a defective wifi card?

nothing obvious was there to give suspicion, I've done some searching online and found a great forum for BT support - seems that BT Home Hub 1.5's current 6.2.2.6e firmware has some problems with wireless and there is a 6.2.2.6H version, I've just scheduled it for an upgrade online and will report any difference tomorrow :p

TBH though I cant imagine it being the problem as I have tried this machine on another router and had the same problem - although that was a bt speedtouch.

Im thinking it might be a vista - router issue.... guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Edit - during my tampering I noticed in my home hub connections settings it was:

username: [email protected]

changed this to my bt email address and I've noticed the ms gone from 140-255 down to 80-111.

But Im still getting these disconnections.

My wireless card is an 802.11n card - but home hub version is 1.5 which is b/g router

seems like I solved it - upnp on home hubs is a big no no :p

**edit**
nope upnp didnt do it although it has brough my ms down. Im thinking its either:

- vista compatability
- 11b/g -> 11n compatability
