Monitor will not show the Post screen.

I have 2 monitors, my main monitor which is connected via DP will not show the post screen but will activate when the system hits the login screen for windows. If I disconnect my main monitor and I'm left with my secondary which is connected via HDMI, the post screen will show. It seems that for whatever reason the DP port doesn't receive a signal or the correct signal to turn on until the windows login screen. Is there a way to either get the DP monitor to show the post screen or is there a way to get the post screen to show on the secondary monitor? My monitors are; AOC 24G2W1G4 (Main) and LGW2486L (Secondary). Any advice would be appreciated.

I think this is normal, and I don't think you can change it. My daughter has 3 screens. 1 will show post screen but all 3 only show when she logs in. the same as yours, and never seen a way to change it. it is likely a software limitation of needing windows to boot and drivers load for all 3 screens to be handled.

I've got the same problem with LG 38WN95C monitor, MSI MEG X570 ACE motherboard, and GTX 1080 Ti GPU, also connected via DisplayPort. When finishing building it I initially thought it wasn't working, until I eventually hooked up the monitor via HDMI instead. Now if I do need to do something in the UEFI I have to disconnect it from DisplayPort and connect via HDMI instead. Dunno why, it's inconvenient.

RELEASE HIGHLIGHTS

To enable the latest DisplayPort 1.3 / 1.4 features, your graphics card may require a firmware update.

Without the update, systems that are connected to a DisplayPort 1.3 / 1.4 monitor could experience blank screens on boot until the OS loads, or could experience a hang on boot.

The NVIDIA Firmware Updater will detect whether the firmware update is needed, and if needed, will give the user the option to update it.

If you are currently experiencing a blank screen or hang on boot with a DP 1.3 or 1.4 monitor, please try one of the following workarounds in order to run the tool:

  • Boot using DVI or HDMI
  • Boot using a different monitor
  • Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy; or Legacy to UEFI.
  • Boot using an alternate graphics source (secondary or integrated graphics card)
Once you have the tool downloaded, please run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions.

The latest NVIDIA graphics card drivers can be downloaded from: //www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

Chef's kiss to you good sir.

I haven't tried it yet but since this is a firmware update I'm guessing it will only be for nVidia manufactured cards, not partner cards - mine is an "Inno3D NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB iChiLL X3 Ultra" so I might be out of luck here.

It is not a Bios, it only update the DP Firmware, so yes you can use it and your GPU will still be Inno3D in its Bios.

My card back then was an EVGA 1080Ti FE.
